It's Abbott

Who beat Turnbull by half a toenail, 42-41, after the surprise elimination of Joe Hockey in the first vote.

Holy sh*t. As it were.

Of course you realise this means they will never beat Kevin for the foreseeable.

*Does little dance*

Not to mention the ongoing Liberal Party nomenclaturial farce if Julie Bishop retains the deputy leadership.

Are they mad? I mean, like, barking?

I just laughed out loud when I heard the result. Crazy crazy stuff.

What worries me is whether those of us who like to control what happens to our own bodies ourselves, and who don't really care for the suffocating pieties of religion, will be marginalised by this. OTOH, it could be that support for Abbot is so low in the wider community that having a moral conservative as leader becomes untenable. Maybe in the longer term this will be a good outcome.

"Precioussss, my precioussss leadership." Until somebody knocks Gollum and the Liberal leadership into a passing volcano, which will probably happen tomorrow.

Hockey was going to allow a conscience vote on the ETS. I suspect that's why he got rolled. Probably the best outcome for him. If Abbot ever gets into power I am so moving somewhere else. I don't know where, but hopefully I shouldn't have to worry about that for some time.

My favourite memory from my first year of teaching was a Year 11 student, a son of a bearded academic, saying "I hope Tony Abbot chokes on his rosary."

Have you seen what mystic medusa has to say about it? Very entertaining.

Where? Where?

what I do know on the astrology front is that Turnbull is a Scorpio. They run deep, they bide their time, their enmity is implacable, and revenge is what they live for. Does she mention any of that?

Oh, even more:

(Somewhat scarily, I discovered I shared the same sun and moon as Rudd.)

Joe Hockey, like John Howard, is a Leo, so it just goes to show. The idea of one Leo asking another Leo for advice is something that can only end badly.

Being a Leo I resemble that remark.

The Libs now have a truly devout leadership team in Abbott and Bishop. If they couldn't have Abbott and Costello then I guess this is the next best thing. Cough!

Be very wary of Abbott, he is a major political performer. When he says he's going to run a clean and fair campaign next year you know he means exactly the opposite.

as the Abbott said to The Bishop
"women in blue-ribbon Liberal seats never ever have problematic pregnancies of any kind, and neither do their children"

who's that sniggering down the back there?

(also: Mystic is The Bizness, oh yeah, I'm there.)

Definitely Dagenham... that is, three stops beyond Barking (on the District Line).
